Undergoing fertility treatment can be an emotional, physical and financial strain not only on you but, if you are in a relationship, on your partner too. Although, regardless of whether you are single or in a relationship, it is important to establish a support network to help you through this difficult time.
We would like to offer some suggestions on how to manage your relationships when undergoing Fertility Treatment.
- Share your infertility journey with your family and closest friends and build a strong relationship with your care providers.
- If you are tackling a fertility journey as a couple, it is vital to support your partner. You can do so by :
1. Prioritising communication, sharing your thoughts, feelings and concerns with one another as well as expectations on what you need from your partner.
2. Similarly, it is important to put a time limit on fertility-related discussions. It is likely that fertility talk may start to feel all-consuming, and at this time in can be beneficial to pause these conversations for a few days or even weeks.
3. Find ways to connect that do not involve discussing your fertility journey. Set time with one another to enjoy shared activities, interests and one another's company.
